Progressive music artists are continuing to embrace the BitTorrent platform as a great tool to reach a new audience. Today, we are very excited to announce the next Spotlight Artist: Body Language.
This indie-electronic act is releasing an exclusive bundle of the single “You Can” off the band’s Social Studies LP. The torrent bundle also includes a cool remix from StarSlinger and the song’s hit video. It’s nothing short of an impeccable transcendence into harmonic heaven. “Now, using synths, vocoder, glockenspiel, and three singers, they are doing marvelous things indeed. “You Can”, starts like a Nelly and Kelly ballad, with male and female unison vocals and one of those cyclical, “unresolved” melodies that makes you return to it again and again…” – Guardian UK
The album’s title Social Studies sums up Body Language’s knack for combining genres into an eclectic mix that fits together like multiple social cultures that coexist effortlessly.
“Depending on the day, we’re producing indie music, DJing house, disco and Detroit techno, or writing pop songs on the piano. So we wrapped our record up like a tidy textbook of genres, or different cultures in a social studies class,” explains Grant Wheeler, who sings and swaps multiple instruments alongside his longtime partner and lead vocalist Matt Young, glockenspiel guru Angelica Bess, and drummer Ian Chang.
The band’s label, Om Records, has transformed many underground artists into dance music superstars (Mark Farina, Bassnector, Groove Armada, Dirty Vegas and Kaskade to name a few). So when we received the opportunity to partner with Body Language, we knew we would be offering the BitTorrent community brilliant music.
“We see tremendous potential in BitTorrent’s global community and appreciate their passion for music. We are looking forward to understanding how to engage and reach new fans through new technologies,” said Om Records.
Body Language is no stranger to the music scene. Having risen from the underground venue basements and clubs in their hometown Brooklyn to supporting tours with Zero 7 and Sia to hypnotizing dance floors appearing with the likes of Passion Pit and La Roux, their music has been universally recognized.
