Introducing BitTorrent Surf
2013/01/10

For the past six months, we’ve been working on a new web client alpha. Today, we’re excited to invite you to try it. Say hi to Surf. And start downloading content, directly from your browser.

BitTorrent Surf is an extension for Chrome that allows for in-browser discovery and downloading.

The Surf demo video. The soundtrack: Swing On Low, by Willis Earl Beal. With thanks to the artist, and our friends over at Hot Charity / XL Recordings.

Here’s how it works:

Surf’s powerful integrated search function allows for site auto-detection. Know what you like already? Awesome. Custom discovery’s built in. Save your favorite sites, and use them to create your own combined engine.

Once you find the content you want, Surf measures and displays the health of the torrent file; helping you to select the best quality media.

Then, keep it all in Chrome. Surf allows you to download and manage files from within your browser.

Surf’s still in its early stages. Your feedback and input will help us build something sick. So, get your feet wet. Try it out. Put it to work. And let us know what you think.

Surf’s up at the Chrome Web Store: https://bit.ly/TNyGmn

Happy downloading,

The Surf Team.
