In this edition of Staff Picks: Emcees, heavy guitars, and vintage synths. The UK’s Empire Dust have developed a unique brand of hip hop reminiscent of other alt hip hop luminaries The Knux and Gorillaz. Heavy guitars, massive drums, and gritty squarewave synths make a bed of backbeat-heavy futuristic rock instrumentals for the dual-emcee assault of frontmen Lord Kimo and Bobatunde.
Lord Kimo and Bobatunde weave lyrical flows over mellow instrumentals like No Rain while seizing the opportunity to command the mic on higher energy tracks like The Magnificent Seven. Many cross-genre artists can lose their voice when surrounded by multiple stylistic influences, but Empire Dust sounds like a band of diverse artists working towards the same goal. The result is a brand of hip hop that is succinct and to the point, while drawing on various influences. Empire Dust’s prowess also extends to the stage where they have gained a reputation for blistering, high-energy live performances that inspire as many dance parties as they do mosh pits.

About BitTorrent Bundle
BitTorrent Bundle is an Alpha project, made with and for the web’s creative community. Our mission is to help artists connect directly with fans, inside the content they share.
Each BitTorrent Bundle allows artists to distribute content directly to the Internet. And each Bundle comes with a key. Fans can unlock artist content with an email address. The idea is to make each song a storefront, and each file more valuable, each time it’s shared. Got ideas for the next BitTorrent Bundle? Hit us up.
